Tis the season for cozy clothes and warm drinks! I am actually writing this post in Lago Atitlan, Guatemala where it gets chilly at night so I will most definitely be drinking more golden milk while I am here (I actually had some in Antigua en route to the lake). Anyways, this post was actually inspired by a friend of mine who brought some to share at the bonfire I had in San Diego before I left for my big trip! I wanted to share it with you all since it was such a big hit at the bonfire, many of my friends had never had it before..which kind of shock me so now that I am posting this, they will have it!
You can actually make a paste and keep it in the fridge for weeks at a time. That way all you need to do is heat up some almond or coconut milk and then stir in a tablespoon of the paste.
I would like to take a minute and share with you the power of turmeric! It’s an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that contains the active ingredient curcumin which has bioactive. This bioactivity can be enhanced and activated with black pepper. A few other benefits:
improve brain function
lower risk of brain disease and heart disease
prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s
help with arthritis and depression
delay aging
With all this said, it’s pretty epic AND there are some people out there that are sensitive to turmeric and I would not recommend taking if it doesn’t sit well in your body. Try small amounts and increase if you think you may fall into this category.
I like to throw ingredients in the blender, can be served chilled or hot! Yum, enjoy!
